DE NUEVO ANTE EL CONFLICTO VASCO
• En solidaridad con las personas que apuestan en el País Vasco y Navarra por la Noviolencia.
• Con las miles de personas que sufren amenazas, chantaje, agresiones y aislamiento, tienen que ser escoltadas, o deben exiliarse al convertirse en objetivos de ETA.
Manifestamos reiteradamante:
• Nuestro convencimiento de que ninguna violencia, ni la de ETA ni la estatal, justifica a la otra, ninguna es defendible. Que con miedo, represión, dolor y odio no se construye ninguna sociedad.
• Creemos que la solución debe estar en la Noviolencia, para conseguir el diálogo, el entendimiento y el respeto sin los cuales ningún conflicto tiene auténtica solución.
Expulsemos la guerra y la violencia

COMUNICADO
DE NUEVO ANTE EL CONFLICTO EN EL PAÍS VASCO
Mujeres de Negro de Madrid nos solidarizamos con todas las personas que apuestan en el País Vasco y Navarra por la Noviolencia. Pacifistas a los que apoyamos por su independencia de pensamiento y acción, por su rechazo tanto al militarismo del Estado como a la violencia etarra, militarista también.
Miles de personas en Euskadi sufren amenazas, chantaje, agresiones y aislamiento, tienen que ser escoltadas, o deben exiliarse al convertirse en objetivos de ETA, a causa de su pertenencia a un partido político, profesión, o por haber manifestado críticas a la organización etarra y a los sectores que la apoyan. ETA y su entorno justifican estas acciones desde un victimismo que les hace echar siempre la culpa a otros de su propia violencia.
Otra parte de la población se somete al miedo, la autocensura y al silencio para seguir viviendo en el País Vasco.
Mujeres de Negro decimos:
–Que las detenciones y condenas judiciales de menores por su pertenencia a la kale borroka no son una solución al problema, y sería mejor buscar otras alternativas. También rechazamos la cultura de la violencia que enseña a esos menores la supuesta necesidad de la lucha armada, el odio, la exclusión, y la agresión a los que no piensan igual.
–Los métodos represivos y controladores por parte del Estado (macrojuicios, ilegalización de partidos) nos provocan muchas dudas y creemos que no son el camino para acabar con la violencia. Pero también planteamos si los partidos que justifican a ETA no han usado el poder adquirido en elecciones para permitir y amparar la impunidad de esa violencia etarra.
–Como activistas de izquierda nos preguntamos si realmente podemos seguir considerando desde fuera del País Vasco y Navarra que se trata de un asunto sólo de los vascos; como feministas creemos que dar prioridad a temas de mujeres no es excluyente de pronunciarnos sobre el tema vasco. Nos preguntamos cómo es posible que nos manifestemos acerca de conflictos en otros países y no queramos o no nos atrevamos a hacerlo respecto a lo que ocurre en el nuestro.
Mujeres de Negro de Madrid reiteramos nuestro convencimiento de que ninguna violencia, ni la de ETA ni la estatal, justifica a la otra, ninguna es defendible. Que con miedo, dolor y odio no se construye ninguna sociedad.

ONCE AGAIN CONFRONTING THE BASQUE CONFLICT
In solidarity with the people in the Basque Country and Navarra who opt for non-violence,
With the thousands of persons who suffer threats, blackmail, assaults and isolation and who require protective guards or must exile themselves when they become targets of the ETA,
We declare again and again
Our conviction that no violence, neither that of the ETA nor that of the State justifies the other, neither is defendable. No society is built on fear, repression, pain and hatred.
We believe that the solution must be in non-violence, in order to secure dialogue, understanding and respect, without which no conflict has an authentic solution.
Let us expel war and violence
from history
and from our lives.
COMMUNIQUE
CONFRONTING ONCE AGAIN THE CONFLICT IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY
Mujeres de Negro (Women in Black) of Madrid are in solidarity with all the people in the Basque Country and Navarra who opt for non-violence, pacifists whom we support for their independence of thought and action, for their rejection of State militarism and the militaristic violence of E.T.A. as well.
Thousands of persons in Euskadi (Basque Country) suffer threats, blackmail, assault and isolation, require protective guards, or must exile themselves when they become targets of the ETA because of belonging to some political party or profession or for having criticized the ETA and the sectors that they support. ETA and those around them justify these actions from a feeling of victimization, which they feel allows them to always blame others for their own violence.
Another part of the population submits to fear, self-censorship and silence in order to continue living in the Basque Country.
We Women in Black say:
• That the detentions and judicial convictions of minors for belonging to kale borroka are not a solution to the problem, and it would be better to seek other alternatives. We also reject the culture of violence which teaches those minor the supposed necessity for armed struggle, hatred, exclusion and aggression against those who do not think the same as they.
The repressive and controlling methods used by the State (group judicial convictions, illegalization of political parties) cause us many doubts, and we believe they are not the path to end the violence. But we also ask if the parties that justify ETA have not used the power they have obtained in elections in order to permit and shelter the impunity of the ETA violence.
• As left-leaning activists, we ask ourselves if we can really continue considering these issues from outside the Basque Country and Navarra, which is an exclusively Basque matter; as feminists, we believe that to give priority to women’s topics does not exclude making statements about the Basque issue. We ask ourselves how it is possible that we make declarations about conflicts in other countries and not want or not dare to do the same with regard to what occurs in our own.
Women in Black of Madrid reiterate our conviction that no violence, neither that of the ETA nor that of the State, justifies the other. No violence is defendable. No society is built on fear, pain and hatred.
